I was careful taking it out so im not sure what the problem is. I have a 99rs and the car starts nice when cold and idles normal until warm., The the idle drops and surges up and down, it started doing this after I took out the apexi SAFC. Like many, when I come to a stop and push the clutch in my RPM's dip to 500 then come up to normal idle (750-800).53. Some times it's as simple as turning your idle up a little higher. Think of this, top alchohol and top fuel engines run masive blowers, monster cams, and injection, and they don't surge.Be sure to measure the sensor output by measuring across the pins and not between the pins and ground. 91-95 Model cars: Measure the MAF output at pins C & D on the MAF connector light blue/red and tan/light blue) or at pins 50 & 9 on the computer.
maybe a vacuum leak in my DIY intake? 2005 I5 crew cab 4wd. my gas mileage isn't that bad, so i'm not thinking it's the head gasket leak. now not a whole lot, i've seen a LOT worse, but you can hear it. during this cold weather i noticed when warming up the truck the idle is surging up and down. Watching the fuel pressure at idle stays around 5200psi and when it surges up goes to around 9000psi. Fixing a surging engine is usually a matter of cleaning the carburetor. This cycle repeats over and over, causing the engine to die and surge. At this point the carburetor's idle circuit will begin to supply fuel and the engine will fire once again and the throttle will return to full. Once stalled, the governor will close the throttle. Also when I'm decelerating down to a stop the rpm will go to about 1200 or so and just surges from about 800 to 1500 while stopped.

When I plug up the IAC hole inside my throttle body a little bit the idle gets much better. Ost_It will Idle between 1500-2500 rpm and surge until the car is warmed up then drop off and idle normally.
